The Ram cross-country team, which this year includes runners from Paton-Churdan, opened the season at the Gilbert Invitational Thursday. The meet is held on the Iowa State University course and draws many schools larger than Greene County. Although the meet was run with two divisions, the Rams were in the division with the larger schools, not the smaller schools.
In girls competition the Rams finished 10th of 12 teams with 233 points. Kuemper Catholic (Carroll) and Boone were the teams the finished behind the Rams. North Polk place first, with Dallas Center-Grimes in second place and Gilbert in third place.
Junior Kassie Lamoureux led the girls with a time of 24:06, good for 33rd place. Sophomore Conner Allender was 40th in 24:50. Other runners, places and times were Makala Kafer, 65th, 25:38; Ashlee Harmeyer, 76th, 25:56; Izzy Bravard, 81st, 26;09; Tieryn Tucker, 145th, 30:01; and Kirsten Lamoureux, 167th, 33:24.
In boys competition the Rams were last of 13 teams with 355 points. Gilbert won the boys meet with only 16 points. Conner Brus led the Rams, finishing in 21:26 and in 87th place. Logan Woodruff finished in 97th place with a time of 21:41. Other runners, places and times were Jayden Carstensen, 112th, 22:07; Jax Carstensen, 131st, 22:39; Trevor Lebeck, 158th, 23:26; Brian Hardaway, 197th, 25:15; Ethan Larsen, 203rd, 25:40; and Anthony Tolsdorf, 209th, 26:13.
